About Friend

Your structure

Yue Jie structure (月劫格)

Born in a 巳 month; the month branch hides 丙, 庚, 戊. The month's main qi 丙 is the Day Master's Rob Wealth; for a yin Day Master this is called Yue Jie. So the chart forms the Yue Jie structure (月劫格).

Yue Jie structure (月劫格)

This year and your luck pillar

This year, 2026 (丙午), has 丙 on top: a Rob Wealth year for you.

Your current luck pillar 丁丑 (2022–2031) has Friend on its stem.

Ten gods that help you

Your Day Master is Strong; Water, Metal help you.

Ten gods to go easy on

Missing from your chart

Following the Zi Ping Zhen Quan, the structure is taken from the month branch; special structures (follow, dominant) need the whole chart.

How the ten gods are calculated, in three steps

In Bazi your Day Master is you. Every other stem in the chart, visible or hidden, relates to it in one of five ways: it is the same element, the element you produce, the element you control, the element that controls you, or the element that produces you. Split each by yin and yang and you get the ten gods, the vocabulary every reading is built on.

  1. 1

    Find your Day Master

In your four pillars, the stem of the day pillar is the Day Master: it stands for you.

  2. 2

    Compare the elements

Compare every other stem, including hidden stems in the branches, with the Day Master: same element, the one you produce, the one you control, the one that controls you, the one that produces you.

  3. 3

    Compare yin and yang

Within each relation, the same yin or yang gives Friend, Eating God, Indirect Wealth, Seven Killings or Indirect Resource; the opposite gives Rob Wealth, Hurting Officer, Direct Wealth, Direct Officer or Direct Resource.

Example: a Jia Wood Day Master meets Geng Metal. Metal controls Wood, so it is the element that controls you; Jia and Geng are both yang, so Geng is Jia's Seven Killings.

Five relationships, ten gods

Each group holds a pair: one with the same yin or yang as your Day Master and one with the opposite. For Wealth, Power and Resource, the opposite-polarity god is the "direct" one, balanced and orderly; the same-polarity god is the "indirect" one, freer and more forceful.

How the ten gods produce and control each other

The five families follow the element cycle too: Resource feeds Peers, Peers feed Output, Output feeds Wealth, Wealth feeds Officer, Officer feeds Resource, and each controls the one two steps ahead. Pick a family to see its links and classic combinations.

Output
  • Output produces Wealth: talent and skill turn into income.
  • Output controls Officer: talent pushes back against pressure and rules.
  • Peers produce Output: energy and confidence become expression and work.
  • Resource controls Output: learning and rules rein in expression.

Reading the ten gods in the year, month, day and hour pillars

The same ten god means different people and life stages depending on its pillar. The month branch commands the chart and weighs most.

  • YearAncestors, parents, childhood homeAbout 1–16
  • MonthParents and siblings, career, societyAbout 17–32
  • DayThe day stem is you; the day branch is the spouse palaceAbout 33–48
  • HourChildren, juniors, later lifeFrom about 49

Stem gods and hidden-stem gods

A ten god on a heavenly stem shows openly and acts directly; Taiwanese charts call it the main star. A ten god hidden in a branch works in the background (the secondary star) until a luck pillar or year brings it out.

Hidden stems come as main, middle and residual qi, the main qi strongest. A god that shows on a stem and is also rooted in a branch is the most stable of all.
