The Jian Lu structure in BaziHow it forms, what it needs, personality and a real example

Updated October 15, 2026

The Jian Lu structure (建祿格, the 'prosperity structure') forms when the month branch is the Day Master's prosperity branch (祿), for example Jia Wood born in a Yin month or Bing Fire in a Si month. Friend doesn't form a structure of its own, so the 'Friend structure' people mention is usually this one: a Day Master strengthened by the month, a self-made life.

How the Jian Lu structure forms

Check whether the month branch is the Day Master's prosperity branch: Jia in Yin, Yi in Mao, Bing and Wu in Si, Ding and Ji in Wu, Geng in Shen, Xin in You, Ren in Hai, Gui in Zi. The Day Master tends to be strong, so after naming the structure you look for Wealth, Officer or Output outside the month to use.

What the Jian Lu structure needs

It loves an Officer restraining Peers and Wealth to use: with an Officer it is noble ('prosperity uses the Officer'), with Wealth rich ('prosperity uses Wealth'). Eating God or Hurting Officer turning abundant energy into talent and income is also good.

  • Power

    Seven Killings · Direct Officer

  • Wealth

    Indirect Wealth · Direct Wealth

  • Output

    Eating God · Hurting Officer

What breaks the Jian Lu structure, and the remedies

Its great fear is Peers everywhere with neither Wealth nor Officer: an over-strong self with nowhere to go, money scattered and a stubborn streak. A clash on the month branch also hurts it.

Jian Lu structure personality

Independent, confident and self-directed, doing everything themselves, resilient under stress and loyal to friends. On the downside: stubborn, competitive and slow to accept advice.

Careers for the Jian Lu structure

Start-ups, freelance work, sales and sport: roles where you run your own show. With an Officer, senior posts in organizations too.

The Jian Lu structure in men's and women's charts

Men

A man with this structure makes his own way and has many brothers and friends. With weak Wealth, he should beware of losing money through friends and keep friendship and finance apart.

Women

A woman with this structure is independent and capable, able to support herself. With a weak Officer a partner may struggle to lead, so choose one who respects her independence.

Jian Lu structure with a strong or weak Day Master

The Day Master is already strong, so Wealth, Officer and Output are welcome and more Resource or Peers are not; only if the rest of the chart is extremely weak does it need another approach.
