The Seven Killings structure in BaziHow it forms, what it needs, personality and a real example

Updated October 15, 2026

The Seven Killings structure (七殺格, also the Indirect Officer structure) forms when Seven Killings among the month branch's hidden stems shows on a stem, or when the month branch's main qi is Seven Killings. Seven Killings controls the Day Master with the same yin or yang, without mercy: a 'fierce' structure that must be restrained or transformed. Controlled, it becomes authority; uncontrolled, pressure and misfortune.

How the Seven Killings structure forms

If the hidden Seven Killings shows on the year, month or hour stem, or is the main qi without showing, the chart has this structure. Whether it turns out well depends on restraint and transformation: Eating God or Hurting Officer restrain it, Resource transforms it, and the Goat Blade (Rob Wealth) stands up to it.

What the Seven Killings structure needs

Three pairings make it shine: Eating God restrains Seven Killings (skill and composure master pressure); Seven Killings and Resource produce each other (pressure becomes authority); and the Goat Blade rides Seven Killings (a strong Day Master with force held in check). The Day Master needs roots of its own.

What breaks the Seven Killings structure, and the remedies

Its worst case is Seven Killings unrestrained with a weak Day Master: 'heavy killings, light self, lifelong loss', say the classics. Wealth feeding Seven Killings adds pressure; the Direct Officer alongside means mixed Officer and Killings; and Indirect Resource striking Eating God disables the restraint.

Seven Killings structure personality

Bold, decisive and resilient, calm in a crisis, with a natural air of command. On the downside: impatient, forceful, unwilling to defer, and prone to rash moves when cornered.

Careers for the Seven Killings structure

Military, police, law, surgery, sport, crisis management, start-ups and high-pressure leadership: the more someone has to decide, the faster it rises. With Eating God or Resource it is a commander's chart.

The Seven Killings structure in men's and women's charts

Men

A man with this structure is ambitious and daring, a natural team leader. Seven Killings also stands for sons and rivals: restrained, it brings prestige; unrestrained, trouble and stress, so moderation and support are key.

Women

A woman with this structure is independent, decisive and capable at work. For her Seven Killings is a lover or forceful partner, and mixed Officer and Killings are said to complicate love; a partner who respects her matters more than a 'strong' one.

Seven Killings structure with a strong or weak Day Master

With a strong Day Master it works best: rooted and supported, the Day Master turns Seven Killings into power, ideally with Eating God restraining it. With a weak one it is 'heavy killings, light self': Resource to transform it and Peers to support you are essential, and Wealth feeding it is unwelcome.
